The war has begun.
I’m not a fitness or nutrition guru: I’m just an ordinary thirty something year old woman, who has spent her entire life, fighting the battle of the bulge.
Early skirmishes.
After spending most of my teenage and adult life trying all sorts of diets, quick fixes and despising exercises. My mission was to find a shortcut. I was getting nowhere, lets just face it, there is no quick fixes.
I’ve spent the last eight years studying nutrition, healthy weight loss and exercising. Finally one mission was accomplished, I’ve actually found exercises that I enjoy.
The holiday is over, the new year has begun, defeated.
After the holidays we all have to admit, we are carrying a few extra pounds into the new year. The New England Journal of Medicine says we have actually just gained a pound. I weighed myself. And guess what? I gained three pounds.
Unfortunately its not just the extra pounds, but also the extra percentage body fat, that I am now dragging along. And the worse part is, I actually did exercise, four times a week. But I still gained body fat, inches and pounds.

A new battle plan in effect.
As for all the pounds I gained–I know exactly what I did wrong and how to fix it. Now I’m going to start 2018, on a mission, to win my battle against the bulge. Hoping, not to give into the enemy, my sweet tooth–the root of all evil.
I’ve learned so much about healthy living. I find the whole cycle of weight loss, weight gain, the how and why, very fascinating. I thought I’d share my intel and my experiences with you, by writing a weekly blog.
I am going to cover food, water intake, exercising, controlling your kilojoule intake, but also other intriguing topics like insulin spikes, muscle memory, how to measure your body fat, vitamins and the use of herbs.

The war budget.
Not much at all, it doesn’t mean you have to waste a year’s salary on all sorts of special foods, pills and the latest exercise app. Trust me–you don’t need to waste money on gyms, programs, dietitians and blood tests.
If you are healthy, with no underlying conditions and don’t have a over or under active thyroid or diabetes, that could influence your weight loss and diet. The internet has tons and tons of information to help you. You just need to know where to look–and that is where I come in.

The scout.
Allow me to help you on your journey, by pointing you into the right direction. Showing you the pitfalls I’ve encountered, and all the great advice and useful tips I’ve picked up along the way.
I hope you will enjoy my blogs. Drop me a line if you have a question or just want to chat. Share your journey with me. If you want to know something specific, on any topic, call me.

We march into battle.
Although exercises are very important, good nutrition is vital. What you eat, when you eat, and how much you eat. How does your body digest food? Are you lactose or gluten intolerant? Water also plays a crucial part. How much water do you drink or don’t you drink?
We have to know, what type of exercises we need to do. How frequently and how intensely we need to do them. We know about nutrition and water. Now we have to add valuable sleep into the mix. Do you give your body proper rest?
These are all important factors for losing those extra pounds and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If an ordinary thirty year old woman, fighting in the trenches can show you how to win battles and eventually the war. Who needs gurus.
Have a great week.
